The consulate provides a full range of consular and passport services for American citizens.

Public Hours of the American Citizen Services Section
1:00 to 4:00 p.m. (Monday through Friday)

Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) and First-time Passport Issuance
Applications are accepted by appointment only.
To schedule an appointment, please e-mail us at ConsMunich@state.gov with the applicant's full name and date of birth. Please also include your home address, phone number(s), and the best time to reach you.
We would prefer e-mail correspondence, but if you do not have Internet access, please call between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (Monday through Friday), and someone will assist you: (089) 2888-575.

Notarials and Applications for Social Security Number (SSN)
1:00 to 4:00 p.m. (Tuesday and Thursday only)

Non-Immigrant Visa Section
We are pleased to announce that Munich has joined Frankfurt and Berlin as Germany's third non-immigrant visa issuance post.

Appointments for visa interviews can be made only by calling:

The consulate in Frankfurt issues immigrant visas for our region.


Our consulate also includes a U.S. Commercial Service office providing full services to American business. The USCS representative in Munich supports business interests in Bavaria and in southern Baden-Württemberg.


Our consulate is closed to the public on American and German holidays. In addition, the American Citizen Services Section will be closed the last Wednesday of every month, i.e.:
