Ambassador William R. Timken, Jr. and his wife Sue Timken attended, accompanied by Consul General Eric Nelson, one of the most traditional Bavarian pilgrimages with beautifully dressed women and men, artistically decorated wagons and magnificently groomed horses. The event is held annually in Bad Tölz in honor of St. Leonard, patron saint of horses and cattle. After a church service and parade around St. Leonard chapel on Calvary hill the pilgrims and their horses are blessed by the priest before returning to the town.
