Kathryn Crockart at the school
Public Affairs Officer Kathryn Crockart visited Northern Bavaria to conduct media interviews with a regional newspaper in Weiden.  While touring in the Upper Palatinate, she also consulted and discussed further cooperation with the U.S. Army Garrison Grafenwöhr and the Joint Multinational Training Command. 





Five Hundred Regensburg Students Cheer Obama Into Office

An overflowing crowd of 500 students and faculty at Regensburg University clapped and cheered as President Obama was inaugurated.  Consul General Eric Nelson then joined three professors from the university's American Studies and Political Science faculty for a panel discussion analyzing this historic day.  The regional daily Mittelbayerische Zeitung covered the event in its January 22 issue with the headline "Obama live at Regensburg university."  Students at the University in Regensburg acknowledged the Consul General's decision to spend this historic day with them, and panelists both German and American impressed upon the crowd the importance of a revitalized trans-Atlantic partnership.

Consul General Eric Nelson delivered remarks at the International Music Festival at Sulzbach-Rosenberg.  He attended the concert by famous cellist Misha Quint.  Mayor Gerd Geismann asked the Consul General to sign the Golden Book.

Munich's Regional Security Officer Paul Houston traveled to Upper Palatinate to inform students of Parsberg Highschool about the responsibilities and procedures of the Diplomatic Security Service.  As a neighboring community of US Army Garrison Hohenfels, Parsberg is naturally interested in establishing and maintaining good relations with American contacts.

At the invitation of Professor Dr. Stephan Bierling, Chair of the Political Science Department and Prof. Dr. Udo Hebel, Chair of the American Studies Department of the University of Regensburg, Consul General Eric Nelson visited Regensburg University.  He spoke to American Studies and Political Science students, U.S. exchange students and German high school students.

 U.S. Ambassador William R. Timken, Jr. (second from right) and a group of German members of Parliament visited the Joint Multinational Readiness Center of the U.S. Army Garrison Hohenfels in the Upper Palatinate.  The Hohenfels Training Area serves primarily as a maneuver area and provides realistic and challenging joint and combined arms training.
